The Challenge of Mediumship Development
Day 1 of 10 of The Complete Medium Series
Welcome to the first day of our Mediumship Development Journey. Today, I want to address the challenge that almost every developing medium faces at some point:
The Voice of Doubt
Even after three decades of professional work, I still experience moments of uncertainty:
"I've been working for 30 years, and the other day I was thinking, 'My God, can I really do this?'"
If you've ever felt that nagging voice of doubt, you're not alone. The difference between developing and established mediums isn't the absence of doubt—it's how you respond to it.
Why Mediumship Work Triggers Insecurity
Mediumship Development brings unique challenges:
No manual or script - Every session brings new energy and information
Fear of delusion - "What if I'm just making this all up?"
Perfectionism - The desire to get everything "right"
Public vulnerability - Working openly with no safety net
"I think everybody who has a calling within the heart has some kind of insecurity when it comes to the spirit world. We don't want to be delusional."
One Powerful Insight: There Are No "Nos"
One of the most transformative concepts for overcoming doubt is understanding that even when recipients say "no" to information, it doesn't mean you're wrong:
"There are no nos. A no is just more learning because the mind is trying to interpret energy. And when you get it wrong, it might not be wrong. It's just that you don't understand it yet."
When you adopt this mindset, something remarkable happens—you stop fearing "mistakes" and start seeing them as stepping stones to deeper understanding.
Your Reflection Exercise
Take a moment to consider: What specific aspects of mediumship work trigger your strongest feelings of doubt or insecurity? Is it establishing contact? Providing specific evidence? Working with skeptical recipients?
Once you've identified these triggers, try this approach: Instead of seeing them as weaknesses, reframe them as areas where your sensitivity is actually heightened. Your awareness of potential mistakes often comes from a deep desire to serve authentically.
Write down one specific doubt you frequently experience, then write a more empowering interpretation. For example:
Doubt: "I worry I'm just making things up."
Reframe: "My concern about authenticity shows my commitment to true connection."
Tomorrow: I'll share the foundational practice that I credit for my consistent results over 30 years—one that many mediums overlook entirely.
Until then, remember that your doubts don't diminish your gifts—they're often a sign of how seriously you take this sacred work.
P.S. Your presence in this community means the world to me. Thank you for being part of this journey.🙏
