The Love of Mediumship

Dear Medium,

I’m Mia Ottosson, spiritual medium and tutor with over 30 years of experience, and today I want to share the profound beauty of mediumship—and why I’ve dedicated my life to this sacred path.

Mediumship is a journey of love, healing, and growth—for both the seeker and the medium. I’ll never forget a reading where I said, “I have your grandmother here—she’s showing me the garden where you buried her cat, her best friend.” 

The client’s eyes lit up with recognition, and in that moment, I witnessed the healing power of spirit connection. As I often say, “When does the story come about the cat? Did you get it as a present? Was it your best friend? That’s when the storytelling comes in.”

For me, mediumship has been a lifelong journey of wonder. Each connection polishes my own diamond, revealing new dimensions of myself.

Even after 30 years, I still feel moments of awe—and yes, moments of doubt. I’ve caught myself thinking, “My God, can I really do this?” But I’ve learned that vulnerability is my strength, deepening my connection to spirit and those I serve.

Why have I dedicated 30 years to this work? Because it’s my calling. I love the challenge of platform work, the joy of seeing students grow, and the satisfaction of a job well done. I tell my students, “You’re supposed to get out there and work, work for the people, and be an asset and an ambassador for the spirit world.” Mediumship is about service—bringing comfort, evidence, and love to those who need it most.

One practice has been my foundation through it all: sitting in the power. It’s a simple act of being present with spirit energy, and it’s shaped me as a medium. I’ve never fallen flat in a reading, and I credit this practice for that consistency.
